~~ INNOVATION WISDOM ~~
If you are serious about becoming a tech innovator, here are a few points I have learnt to be true while growing up… funny enough they also follow the lines of logic rather than emotion and hearsay. Hear goes:
1) Completely launching an app etc. after a few months after its first conceptualization will not be of a quality to go the full distance in top innovations.
2) For your technology to be able to do what it needs to do as it is developed in stages over time, the foundation of the technology must support its future growth/development towards your solution for a problem. If it does not, you will need to start over from scratch, or settle with what you have since it would be a big financial lost.
3) Investors also prefer a solution that is “marinated” or developed over a period of a few years to ensure it is not just a “pie in the sky” idea.
4) Persons who are in survival mode will not be comfortable with the first three points… and that is ok… survival is an urgent matter.
5) You will need a well done software requirements specification (SRS) document to communicate successfully with software developers. If technology is not your expertise, prepare for an interesting journey towards that SRS.
6) Software developers who do not have the required skills to help develop your innovation, will not always tell you so… they will disappear into thin air every time. Read more on this here at: “How to Avoid Being Ghosted by Developers… Something spooky is going on in the tech recruiting world” and “These Four Skills Will Help You Foster an Innovation Environment.”
7) Marketing makes sense when it is wise for the innovator to do so. This could be linked to time, financial, innovation and intellectual property management, not just marketing skills.
8) If you plan to be a top innovator, a conversation about intellectual property is a must first, since you most likely plan to take your innovation to the world.
9) Human beings become members of your team. They come with a wide range of personal qualities that will need to be navigated, until you find the right fit of team member for your venture.
10) Human beings in general, everywhere on your journey, both seen and unseen will need to be navigated for the same reason above. The Ego is a real thing.
11) Knowledge drives innovative solutions. Knowledge is increased over time through a focus on experiences, quality education and individual talents.
12) Bonus point: If there is a global problem that is persistent throughout time. Focus your search for innovators regarding that problem, on those who do not fit the standard acceptable profile of society as a whole. This could be race, gender, religion or nationality. Why? Because the value of change and difference will be an important factor in solving the problem.
