Sustainable Development Technological System set to change habits worldwide!
Dear Government of Barbados,
My name is Simera Crawford, I am the Founder of The Caribbean Environmental Management Bureau (CEMBI) and BitEgreen Market Inc. We are dedicated to producing environmental solutions to meet sustainable development goals locally, regionally and internationally.
We note your great efforts and commitment towards sustainable development, and trust you will be excited to hear of an exciting initiative we are preparing to launch. As we achieve the projected goals, it will highlight Barbados as originators and creators of an innovative, yet user friendly sustainable development technological system for all.
Why now?
Waste affects ecosystem goods and services essential for things like food, climate regulation and a thriving tourism sector, resulting in great economic losses. This damage to ecosystems also contributes to health problems related to carbon emissions and loss of available carbon sinks. The use of chemical, rather than organic fertilizers inland can result in nutrient pollution within our oceans causing fish to die, and coral bleaching. Additionally, a country with high imports, also generates waste throughout the journey of each product purchased globally. Worldwide, only about 9% of recyclable material is used in new products, and the rest is left to contribute to the problems mentioned, including 45% of global greenhouse gases contributing to Climate Change. The other 55% is directly related to our energy sources.
How our model works
We have developed a technological system for encouraging environmentally sustainable actions which involves the circular economy system that:
- tackles issues of sorting garbage at the source,
- manages wasted energy and unhealthy actions, and
- incentivizes greater participation.
This system is managed on a web platform and app called BitEgreen (pronounced Bit-E-green), aimed at;
- enhancing the overall operational efficiency of businesses and,
- integrating environmental preservation and other sustainable development goals into daily activities.
The model uses schools, students and the corporate sector as main drivers of the programme. This national integrated effort seeks to educate, address cultural change, and change behaviours, while reducing the level of recyclables reaching landfills and the marine environment.
Next steps
With technology, particularly apps, you will appreciate the need to test with the intended target audience. Therefore, we are writing to inform you that selected businesses (including yourself), schools, citizens and tourists across the island will be invited to participate in the pilot phase of this initiative.
The link provides further insights on how you and participants benefit from the BitEgreen system. We trust you will find it interesting. If you have any queries, please call me on 1-(246)-424-8210 or respond to this email.
I trust you see the vision and goals we at BitEgreen Market Inc. are establishing to accomplish in making Barbados and the world a better place for all, especially the younger generation.
Yours sincerely,
SRCrawford
